Hostesses Kash and Linda brought the book to life by recreating one of Whoopi’s favorite childhood pastimes; A trip to Coney Island! The room was decorated with red and white striped carnival tablecloths, backdrops, and centerpieces. There were roasted hot dogs, fresh popped popcorn, sno cone machine, a cotton candy machine, and candied apples. The hot dog meal was elevated by having chili and Fritos available, along with Whoopi’s Mom’s favorite Wise Garlic and Onion potato chips.

Members were challenged to write out The Ten Commandments from memory in two minutes, and the winners received a gift card plus early access to the Penny Candy Bar. The Candy Bar contained old time Penny candy like Whoopi recalled buying as a child. There were Mary Jane’s, Bit o Honey, Root Beer Barrels, Chic-O-Sticks, Now or Laters, Laffy Taffy, Lemonheads, Boston Baked Beans, and Lik-A-Maid Fun Dips.

Of course the meal and candy containers were carnival themed and similar to a actual Coney Island experience.

As a final takeaway, each member was given a souvenir sized Louisville Slugger Bat.
