1736 Family Crisis Center

This past October 2020 (National Domestic Violence Awareness Month) the Daphne Belgrave Kersee Foundation (DBKF) donated $5,000 to 1736 Family Crisis Center. These funds were used to convert a room at one of their facilities into a small library. Tabahani Book Circle donated 150+ new and gently read books to this library. Thank you Debra Kersee-Anderson for creating this opportunity for Tabahani to partner with DBKF and to Brenda Blow, TBC’S Community Service Coordinator, thank you for facilitating the book collection and delivery. Ms. Daphne (1930-1968) was killed while trying to flee a domestic violence relationship. Her daughter Debra established the foundation in 2014, in an effort to empower all persons of domestic violence with resources to improve their current situation. If a book, improves it for a minute or a hour; so be it. Debra’s Mom was an avid reader, reading was a way to escape her situation. How fitting it was that 1736 would use these funds to create that same atmosphere.
